Proposed rate increase averted by Benton PUD

Last fall, to reduce revenues, Benton PUD customers received a temporary rate decrease of 1 to 4.8 percent, depending on the rate class. It became effective November 1, 2005 with the plan to discontinue it October 31, 2006. We are pleased to be able to maintain the rate decrease implemented last fall, but we are not stopping there. With the good rate news from the Bonneville Power Administration, we now have more definitive information needed for future planning. This information from BPA, along with good cost management of other PUD resources over the last year, has put us in a strong position to lower rates further this fall, said Commissioner Bob Bertsch, president, Benton PUD Commission.
