Budget Payment Plan updated in January

Budget Payment Plans will now be reviewed every six months to ensure that the average payment each month more accurately reflects the customer’s average use.  Customers on the Budget Payment Plan may see a change in their monthly amount on their January statement.  We encourage customers to review and monitor their account balance which is the actual total amount due.  If your account balance shows a high amount due, give us a call so that we can evaluate it for you.  Your power use can vary each month.

The monthly amount is based on the previous years billing history.  To determine the amount of the payment, we use your past 12 months of billing to estimate your annual electricity bill for the next year and divide by 12.  If you have a balance owed, it is spread over the next 12 months in your new Budget Payment amount.  By reviewing customers usage and billing amount every six months rather than annually as it was done in the past, customers will less likely have dramatic change in their bill.

If you have any questions about the Budget Payment Plan, please give Benton PUD customer service a call at 582-2175 in Kennewick or 786-1841 in Prosser.
