| Rebates for Conservation Available
Benton PUD has introduced new energy efficiency rebate
programs to promote conservation and help customers
save on their monthly bill.
The new Residential Energy
Efficiency Program offers Benton PUD customers rebates
on qualified ENERGY STAR® clothes
washers, dishwashers and refrigerators. Energy
efficient water heaters that meet specific standards
also qualify for rebates. In addition to appliances,
there are rebates available on insulation and duct
sealing projects as well as ENERGY STAR® Manufactured Homes. ENERGY STAR® Homes Northwest builders are also eligible for rebates through the program.
ENERGY STAR products meet strict energy efficiency
criteria set by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency
or the U.S. Department of Energy. Because they use
less energy, ENERGY STAR products save consumers money
on their electricity bill and make better use of power
resources.
“By partnering with the Bonneville Power Administration, Benton
PUD is able to offer these rebates to our customers,” said Bob Bertsch,
Benton PUD Commissioner. “This is another example of how Benton
PUD helps our customers save on their electric bill.”
In addition to the residential program, there are
also incentives for Benton PUD commercial and agriculture
customers on lighting, irrigation and special projects.
Benton PUD is a participant in the Bonneville Power
Administration’s conservation program, developed
to encourage utilities to meet conservation goals. Utilities
throughout the northwest promote energy conservation
which is less expensive than building new power plants. Benton
PUD’s conservation programs over the past 24
years have saved nearly 146 million kilowatts – almost
9 percent of Benton PUD’s current annual load.
