through September 30, 2009, or until funding is depleted. Products
purchased prior to April 11, 2006 are not eligible
for rebates.
How can I apply for a rebate?
Appliance, Insulation, ENERGY STAR® Manufactured
Home, and duct sealing rebate applications are available
in our office or online at www.bentonpud.org. ENERGY
STAR® Homes applications and information is available
in our office or by calling Ed Monson at 582-1272. Appliance
and home purchase rebate applications require a receipt
and/or a proof of purchase.
When will I receive the rebate?
Appliance rebate - Once the completed application is
submitted and processed, your rebate will be mailed
to you within 30 days.
All other rebates – please contact our office
at 582-1234 for more details on reimbursement for insulation,
duct sealing, or home purchase rebates.
Why should I purchase energy efficient appliances
or make energy efficient home improvements?
The more energy efficient your home is, the less it
costs to heat and cool and the lower your utility bills
are. The same goes for the appliances in your home,
the more efficient they are, the lower your utility
bill will be. Using less energy is also good
for the environment because it helps reduce air pollution
and conserve natural resources.
Where can I purchase ENERGY STAR® appliances
and qualifying water heaters?
Qualified products can be found in most stores. Some
retailers have partnered with ENERGY STAR® to train
their sales staff about energy efficiency so that they
can provide you with advice about purchasing energy-efficient
products for your home and office. To find an
ENERGY STAR® store, visit www.energystar.gov.
What is ENERGY STAR®?
ENERGY STAR® is a government-backed program helping
businesses and individuals protect the environment
through superior energy efficiency. Results
are already adding up. Americans, with the help of
ENERGY STAR®, saved enough energy in 2005 alone to
avoid greenhouse gas emissions equivalent to those
from 23 million cars — all while saving $12
billion on their utility bills.
Where can I find a list of ENERGY STAR® Manufactured Home Retailers, ENERGY STAR® home builders,
or Insulation and PTCS Duct sealing contractors?
Lists are available in our office, by calling 582-1234
or online at www.bentonpud.org
Can I install my own insulation and still
receive the rebate?
Yes, as long as the installation meets the required
specifications and the appropriate forms are completed
and submitted. For more information on the specifications
and forms, contact Ed Monson, Benton PUD Energy Advisor,
at 582-1272.
