Tips for conserving energy at your business:

  • Use a surge protector for electronics in offices
  • Power down electronics at the end of the workday
  • Turn off lights when they’re not in use or install occupancy sensors

  • Use fans during occupied hours to maintain a comfortable temperature
  • Locate any leaks in your business to prevent costly heating and cooling loss, you can easily plug leaks with weather stripping and caulking

If you’re closing for a long holiday weekend:

  • Adjust thermostats for non-business hours
    • In summer, above 80 degrees
    • In winter, between 60 and 65 degrees
  • Turn off all lights except safety and security lights
  • Send a reminder to building occupants to turn off all unused office equipment including computers, monitors, printers, copiers, fax machines and scanners
  • If your water-heating system includes a circulation pump, turn it off.
