Benton PUD & EVITA Celebrate a New Electric Vehicle Charging Station

The first charging station of nine to be installed as part of the EVITA pilot project.  The first CCS & CHAdeMO electric vehicle DC Fast Charging Station* in the Tri-Cities.

 

The public is invited to Benton PUD’s ribbon-cutting event for the electric vehicle charging station at the Southridge Sport Complex.

The Southridge Electric Vehicle Charging Station is one of nine charging stations that are part of a pilot project led by EVITA - Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Transportation Alliance. (EVITA is an industry collaboration comprised of Energy Northwest, Benton PUD, Franklin PUD, Benton REA, City of Richland Energy Services, City of Ellensburg Energy Services and TRIDEC. 

The charging station has two chargers available, one is a level 2 charging station and the other is a DC fast charging station – the first DC fast charging station in the Tri-Cities. EVITA received a $405,000 grant from the Washington State Department of Transportation for the pilot project for the installation of the electrical vehicle direct current, or DC, fast charging stations along Washington highway corridors.

Representatives from Benton PUD, City of Kennewick, TRIDEC, Tri-City Regional Chamber of Commerce, EVITA and other dignitaries will attend.  Public is invited.
