The privilege taxes collected by the state include $895,000 for the state school fund, and $273,000 to the state general fund. In addition, $1.5 million is divided between Benton County, and the cities of Kennewick, Prosser, Benton City, and Richland.
Overall, Benton PUD incurred $13.8 million in taxes in 2018. In addition to the privilege tax, Benton PUD incurred the following taxes in 2018: $5.1 million for the state public utility tax; municipal utility taxes of $5.32 million to the City of Kennewick, $456,000 to the City of Prosser, $134,000 to the City of Benton City, $17,000 to the City of Richland, and other excise taxes of $85,000 to the State.
