Come learn about and engage in a clean energy future

Benton PUD is holding two public meetings this summer to provide an overview of Clean Energy Implementation Plan (CEIP) requirements and solicit customer input into the development of the CEIP.

Virtual Public Meetings will be held:

July 27, 2021 at 8:15 a.m.
August 24, 2021 at 8:15 a.m.

Visit our Resource Planning page for more on how to join the meetings or to submit comments online.

As background, Governor Inslee signed the Clean Energy Transformation Act (CETA) into law in 2019. CETA established milestones for utilities to become greenhouse gas neutral by 2030 and carbon free by 2045. Benton PUD’s electricity supply is already over 90% carbon free primarily due to hydroelectric and nuclear power.

The first milestone requires a utility to prepare and publish a four-year CEIP by January 1, 2022.  The plan will address specific targets for energy efficiency, demand response and renewable energy, and actions to ensure an equitable transition to the state’s clean energy goals.

A presentation of the draft and final CEIP will be made to the commission this fall.
