PROGRAM EXTENDED: COVID-19 Customer Assistance Available to Qualified Benton PUD Customers Through 2021

The utility disconnect moratorium is expiring September 30, 2021

Governor Inslee has issued a final extension of the utility disconnect moratorium, which will now expire on September 30, 2021. While good intentioned, the Governor’s moratorium has resulted in many customers accumulating significant past due balances and a future financial burden. As a not for profit, locally controlled business, Benton PUD exists to meet the needs of our customers which we have proudly been doing for 75 years.

In response to the financial hardships resulting from COVID-19, we offered a customer assistance program beginning in May. The program has now been extended through December 31, 2021. For qualifying residential and small business customers, this is an opportunity to reduce or eliminate past due balances. Qualified residential and small business customers may receive a bill credit of up to $200 and payment matching. For detailed program information and to complete an online application, visit our COVID-19 Customer Assistance Program page.

In addition to the COVID-19 Customer Assistance program, beginning October 1, 2021 Long-Term Payment Arrangements (up to 24 months) and Pay As You Go (a prepaid billing option) will be offered to help customers avoid disconnection, which could begin in November for accounts with past due balances.

For additional questions, Customer Service is available at (509) 582-2175 or (509) 786-1841 and by email at customerservice@bentonpud.org.
