Scheduled Power Outages for Prosser Customers in March/April

The Bonneville Power Administration (BPA) has scheduled two high priority power outages for the Prosser area serviced by Benton PUD to allow personnel to safely perform preventative maintenance required to maintain the safety and reliability of the BPA electric system connecting the Prosser area to the regional power grid.

What is the purpose of the planned outage?

  • The Bonneville Power Administration (BPA) will be performing high priority maintenance and repair of power lines and equipment connecting the Prosser area to the regional power grid.
  • To enable BPA personnel to work safely, an outage is required that will result in the loss of electric service for Benton PUD customers in the Prosser area.
  • The work is preventative in nature and necessary to maintain the safety and reliability of the BPA electric system.
  • A second grid connection is being planned by Benton PUD in cooperation with BPA to eliminate the need for these types of planned outages.

Who will be impacted?

  • Approximately 3,500 Benton PUD customers in the Prosser area.
