Trick or Treat! Halloween Safety to Keep You and Your Family Safe

Check out some of these electrical and general safety reminders for Halloween weekend!

As you stock up on sweet treats and fill the yard with lights and decorations, Benton PUD wants to remind you to practice electrical safety to keep you and your spooky visitors safe.
Benton PUD urges you to consider the following to avoid safety hazards:
  • Make sure wires and extension cords are in good condition
  • Keep electrical cords out of high-traffic areas such as sidewalks
  • Don’t staple or nail through electrical cords
  • Secure outdoor lights to firm supports to protect the lights from wind damage
  • Do not attach cords or lights to metal objects
  • Only use cords and lights rated for outdoor use
  • Unplug lights and decorations before going to bed or leaving your home
Make this Halloween a great celebration by keeping those around you safe! You can find more electrical safety tips at BentonPUD.org/SafetyTips.
