Benton PUD is proud of our investment in renewables such as hydropower, wind and solar.
Did you know?
- There is a solar project located right here in our community. The White Bluffs Solar Station is located 10 miles north of Richland. The project uses 242 photovoltaic panels to convert sunlight into 38.7 kilowatts of direct current electricity. Energy Northwest developed White Bluffs as a joint effort with the Bonneville Environmental Foundation, the Bonneville Power Administration, the Department of Energy and Newport Northwest LLC. Energy Northwest owns and operates the project.
- Benton PUD has two community solar projects. One located at its Kennewick facilities and the other located at its Prosser facilities. Both are owned by Benton PUD customer participants.
- In 2015, renewable resources provided 13% of the U.S. electricity with nearly 1% of U.S. electricity generation from solar power.
