On September 12, 2026, Benton PUD celebrated 80 years as a not-for-profit consumer-owned electric utility. That milestone is more than a date on the calendar. It is an opportunity to pause with gratitude, look back with pride, and look ahead with confidence.

We are grateful to the citizens who created Benton PUD, to the commissioners who have guided it, to the employees who have built and maintained it, and to the customers who own it. 

The next 80 years will bring new challenges, but Benton PUD is exceptionally well positioned to meet them. Our public power foundation is strong. Our employees are capable and committed, our technology is leading edge, and our hydro-based power supply remains one of the great advantages of the Northwest.

Benton PUD’s story began with local citizens choosing local ownership. Eight decades later, that choice continues to deliver value every day.
