Reliable Public Power Provider (RP3) Utility

Benton PUD places a high importance on the preventive maintenance of our electric system - everything from cable maintenance to pole inspections and tree trimming to equipment audits. These steps help us maintain the reliability and safety of our system. To demonstrate our commitment to our system, staff applied to the American Public Power Association (APPA) Reliable Public Power Provider (RP3) program. This program recognizes public power utilities across the country for their level of service by identifying strengths as well as opportunities for improvement and provides a benchmark to compare against others in the industry in the areas of reliability, safety, workforce development and system improvement.

Benton PUD earned a Diamond RP3 designation by the American Public Power Association RP3 program in March 2021. This is the third time Benton PUD earned this designation. The Diamond designation is the highest designation that is awarded.  This was the second consecutive time the Diamond designation was awarded to Benton PUD.  The first award was May 2015.
