Heat Pump Water Heaters:  $300 to $500

Heat pump water heaters are twice as efficient as conventional electric tank-style water heaters.  They push heat from inside the unit out to the air and use a fan to pull heat from the surrounding air and transfer it to the water in the storage tank.  Heat pump water heaters are best installed in a garage, utility room or basement with enough space, at least 1,000 cubic feet (or the equivalent of a 12’x10’x8’ space).  They also require enough clearance to access the filter, which must be cleaned regularly.  Heat pump water heaters release cool, dry air and act like a dehumidifier and as such require condensation drainage.  They also generate sounds similar to a freezer.

Rebates are available for replacement of an electric tank-style water heater in an existing single family site-built home or existing manufactured home.  Single family new construction homes are not eligible for a rebate.

To apply for a heat pump water heater rebate, please follow these steps:

  1. Select a heat pump water heater.  Qualifying heat pump water heaters can be found here.
  2. Install the heat pump water heater in an appropriate location.
  3. Complete a Heat Pump Water Heater Rebate Application.
  4. Complete a Heat Pump Water Heater Installation Form.

Note:  A heat pump water heater must be installed by a qualified contractor or purchaser who has completed the manufacturer’s online training video.  If purchaser installs the appliance themselves and no manufacturer's training is available, use the Do-It-Yourself Installation Tips.

  1. Complete a Manufacturer’s Checklist.
  2. Submit a copy of your payment receipt and customer invoice.  The payment receipt and customer invoice must include your name, address, appliance make, appliance model number and size as well as purchase date.
  3. Return the Heat Pump Water Heater Rebate Application, Heat Pump Water Heater Installation Form, Manufacturer’s Checklist, payment receipt and customer invoice within 60 days of purchase to:

Insulation:  $0.02 to $0.70 per square foot

As much as half of the energy used in your home goes towards heating and cooling.  By preventing heat loss in the winter and heat gain in the summer, a properly installed insulation barrier reduces your utility bills year around.

Rebates are available and vary depending upon location of the insulation and type of home.

To be eligible for a rebate, all work must be performed by an Approved Contractor.

Windows:  $3 per square foot

Energy efficient windows can help keep homes warmer in the winter and cooler in the summer by blocking up to 70% of the solar heat gain in the summer and reflecting the radiant heat indoors during the winter.

Rebates are available and vary depending upon type of home.

To be eligible for a rebate, all work must be performed by an Approved Contractor.

Doors:  $40 per door

ENERGY STAR® qualified doors help reduce drafts and keep your home at a constant temperature.

To be eligible for a rebate, installation must be performed by an Approved Contractor.

Heat Pumps & Ductless Heat Pumps:  $500 to $700

Typically, over 40% of your utility bill goes towards heating and cooling.  Qualified heating equipment can be up to 15% more efficient than standard models.

Ductless heat pump systems use a fraction of the energy of traditional heating sources resulting in a reduction on your heating bill and a more comfortable home.  Ductless systems deliver warm or cool air directly into your home, without having to route it through your existing ducts.  It is easier to install and less expensive.

To be eligible for a rebate, all work must be performed by an Approved Contractor.

Duct Sealing:  $250

Ducts carry air from the central heater or air conditioner to each part of the home and back again.  In a typical house, about 20% of the air that moves through the ducts system is lost due to leaks, holes and poorly connected ducts.  Tightly sealed and well insulated ducts can reduce annual utility bills by over $100.

Rebates are available for existing single family site-built and manufactured homes.  New construction are not eligible for a rebate.

To be eligible for a rebate, all work must be performed by an Approved Contractor.
