Help Shape Your Clean Energy Future

Benton PUD is planning how we'll transition to cleaner energy by preparing our 2026-2029 Clean Energy Implementation Plan (CEIP). Your input helps ensure everyone benefits, especially communities who have been most impacted.

The CEIP outlines the steps Benton PUD will take to provide 100% clean electricity by 2045. It is part of Washington's Clean Energy Transportation Act (CETA) requirements, a law enacted in 2019 that sets statewide clean energy standards:

Icons representing the CETA timeline goals
  • No coal resources by the end of 2025
  • Greenhouse gas neutral by 2030
  • 100% clean electricity by 2045

As a consumer-owned utility, Benton PUD is required by CETA to develop and submit a four-year CEIP to the Washington State Department of Commerce. This plan must identify:

  1. Specific actions to demonstrate progress toward meeting the clean energy standards
  2. Interim target for the percentage of retail load served using clean energy resources
  3. Specific targets for energy efficiency, demand response, and renewable energy
  4. Specific actions to support an equitable transition for all customers
